Adult Formation

Jesus wants us to do more than just attend church. He wants us to be transformed by his Spirit, the word of God, and the relationships we build with others in our community. Therefore, St. Luke’s offers programs on Sunday mornings between the services as well as opportunities during the week. Adult Formation at St. Luke’s is an invitation to grow in relationship to God and one another.

Adult Forum

Parishioners gather 9-10 a.m. on Sundays in the Parish Hall to hear presentations and engage in discussion on a broad spectrum of topics. Examples include the Prophet Isaiah and Martin Luther King Jr, Islam 101, Archaeology in the Holy Land, Church Structure, Who is My Neighbor?, History of St. Luke’s, and What is An Episcopalian?

Most recently, we initiated a six-part series of panel discussions on mental illness and its impact on different segments of our society, the initial effort of our Mental Health Initiative. For each session, two panelists and a moderator, each of whom is a mental health expert, discussed mental health and its effects on the marginalized, homeless, criminal justice system, and youth and the elderly. This impactful program will serve as the springboard for St. Luke’s to become a WISE (Welcoming, Inclusive, Supportive, and Engaged) congregation for Mental Health Resolution. Contact Gordy Tucker.

Lectio Divina

This lively gathering for friendship with God and one another meets online Tuesdays at 9:30 with Rev. Dr. Sandy Blake. We share our stories, spend time in contemplation inviting the Spirit to join us, and experience Lectio Divina (conversation with God in Scripture), all to build up the communion of saints and the body of Christ in our world. Email Rev. Sandy Blake for more information.

Weekly Bible Study

Join us for weekly Bible Study with Mother Amy on Tuesdays, 2-3 p.m. in the Common Room to discuss the lessons appointed for the following Sunday. Contact Mother Amy to learn more.

Interfaith Bible Study

We continue our years-long collaboration with Congregation Rodef Shalom in an online interfaith study of scripture and other readings, which has enriched the relationship with our Jewish brothers and sisters and expanded our understanding of our common spiritual heritage. Email Faith Formation Minister Gordy Tucker for information.
