Meet Gordy

Gordy oversees spiritual development of the youngest members of St. Luke’s, ages 3 to 18, and works closely with Mother Amy and members of the parish to present informative, intellectually challenging, and spiritually rewarding adult programs.

A professional archaeologist, he has led several pilgrimages of St. Luke’s parishioners to the Holy Land and has volunteered on archaeological digs in Israel, including the ancient sites of Tel Ashkelon and Tel Shimron. Gordy and his wife Kathleen, who has accompanied him on digs in Israel, and their three children joined St. Luke’s in 1990. He served in several lay leadership positions before joining the staff.

He holds a BA in Sociology/Anthropology from Western Washington State College (now University), an MA in Anthropology (archaeology emphasis) from Idaho State University and a PhD in Anthropology (archaeology emphasis) from the University of Colorado. Gordy retired from archaeology consulting work in 2021 but continues to teach at Metropolitan State University in Denver.
